Allergic Conjunctivitis
There is a clear, thin membrane called the conjunctiva which covers the eyeball and the inner part of the eyelids. Allergy is caused when something irritates this covering. It makes the eye red and swollen. They also might start itching, hurting or getting watery. This is called conjunctivitis also known as "pink eye."

The first step involves avoiding the allergens. This sometimes can be impractical, but few home remedy steps can reduce the discomfort. Applying cool compression soothes the eyes. The second step includes taking a combination of medication like anti-inflammatory or antihistamine drops that are put in the eyes. For severe reaction Mild eye steroid preparations are applied directly on the surface of the eye. Sometimes oral antihistamines may be required to reduce the effects of allergies. |
